University Accreditation

Washington University in St. Louis has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), since 1913.


In September 2014, Washington University underwent our 10-year on-site evaluation visit by a team of trained peer reviewers appointed by the HLC.

In preparation for the visit, the university community engaged in a comprehensive institutional self-study process. The self-study reflects the state of the university and progress made since the previous visit which took place in 2004.

Moving Forward

As of 2015, Washington University participates in the HLC’s Open Pathway accreditation process. The university’s 10-year cycle will take place between 2015 and 2025.
